Is working through an Umbrella company right for you?

What type of benefits are available to me if I work through an Umbrella company?
At Mordstone Umbrella you will be entitled to Holiday Pay as well as Statutory Maternity/Paternity pay and Statutory Sick Pay as long as the statutory requirements are met. There are also contributions to your pension through Smart Pensions which is Mordstone Umbrellas chosen pension provider.
If I use an Umbrella company am I classed as self employed?
No, you will be regarded as an employee of the Umbrella company. Although you may be regarded as a contractor or freelancer both your employment and tax status, is that of an employee of the umbrella company. This is in contrast to a worker who operates as a sole trader or through a limited company (outside of IR35).
What deductions are made to my pay when employed by an umbrella company?
If PAYE then the usual income tax, national insurance contributions as well as pension contributions if deciding to stay opted in to Smart Pensions. Depends on individual circumstances student loan repayments could be deducted if applicable. The umbrellas company margin will be clearly shown on the payslip.
